Donna Bassette is an independent author who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She wrote her first book after being challenged by her husband, EJ Bassette, to write a book that their three children would enjoy after struggling to find something with non-traditional characters and varied cultural settings, especially as it relates to African or African-American culture and history.

Donna currently has books for children ages 0-13.  However, adults also enjoy learning from the parent and teach sections provided in the back of each book.
